Dr. Gene Bates founded Quaker Village Vision Center in 1966, building long-term relationships with his patients for 35 years. Upon his retirement in 2000, he turned his practice over to Dr. Craig Wood, who was later joined by Drs. Sherman and Rhonda Thurmond in 2001 forming what is now known as Guilford Eye Center. Together, they combined their knowledge, experience, and skills to continue providing the highest standard of eye care in the area.
